Introduction

James Maslow’s Life and Career

James Maslow is an American actor, singer, and dancer. He is best known for playing the role of James Diamond on Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush and is currently a contestant on Season 18 of Dancing with the Stars.

Maslow was born in New York City, New York, and raised in La Jolla, California. He began his acting career when he was cast as a guest star on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. He went on to have guest roles on iCarly, Victorious, and See Dad Run.

In 2009, Maslow was cast as James Diamond on Big Time Rush. The series ran for four seasons until 2013. In 2014, Maslow made his Broadway debut in the musical adaptation of the film Ghostbusters.

Maslow competed in Season 18 of Dancing with the Stars. He paired with professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd. The pair made it to the finals but were ultimately eliminated in fourth place.

In his spare time, Maslow enjoys playing basketball and guitar. He is also a black belt in karate.

Digital Journal: How would you describe your new album, How I Like It?

James Maslow: The album is a fun mix of uptempo tracks and ballads. There’s something for everyone on it. I’m really proud of it and I hope my fans enjoy it.

Digital Journal: Who are some of your musical influences?

James Maslow: I’m influenced by a lot of different artists. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, and Usher. I  also love Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, and One Direction.

Digital Journal: What’s your favorite song on the album?

James Maslow: I have a few favorite songs on the album. I love “All Day,” “Nobody Else,” and “Crash.” They’re all fun songs that I think people will enjoy.

Digital Journal: What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects that you can tell us about?

James Maslow: I’m working on some new music right now. I’m also working on an animated series called The Academy. It’s been a lot of fun and I’m really excited for people to see it.
